Enduring Love

Today I went to a different ward in my LDS church for a Missionary Farewell.
Waiting for the meeting to begin,
an older man lead his wife into the pue right in front of me. He directed her every step and told her where and when to sit.
It was obvious he had helped her dress.
My heart was touched as though her pink necklace did not match her green and blue dress, he knew every woman loves her accessories.
While we each recieved the sacrament I watch as the caring husband in front of me fed his wife her bread and helped her drink her water.
This was no chore for him.
His arm around her shoulders, occassionally looking over to her, told whoever was watching that this was love.
A lasting and a real love.
This special relationship I got to catch a glimpse of reminded me of another couple I had seen before.

Especially as youth, we see our life as a journey to find our true love.
We often close our eyes and see it to be something like this.
And it is like this!
Or else we wouldn't try so hard to find it.
But is it always like this?
Do we look for the person who makes the very best
pouring rain picture with us?
Or someone who will,
even when life is pouring rain on us,
love us forever.
I think we should look to follow after our elders when we look for love.
The couples that are still in love after years and years, trials, loss, disabilities, sicknesses, and hardships.

These are the couples that we should really admire.

Thank you to the couples in my life and my community that are an example of what real and enduring love can be like.
Our Elderly are so amazing!
